A very healing and detoxifying therapy
Cupping has numerous benefits — it can help remove toxins from the body and stimulate the flow of fresh blood, lymph, and Qi to the affected area and throughout the body. It often works wonders for patients with the flu, colds, coughs, back and muscle pain, headaches, poor circulation, anxiety, red itchy skin conditions (though cups are not applied to inflamed areas), allergies, fevers, aches and a myriad of other pains.
How to Prepare To Have the Best Cupping Session:
Drink plenty of water before and after your massage
Come in feeling comfortable – eat healthfully on the day of your appointment, avoid large meals
Arrive ten minutes early, so you have time to relax and discuss with your independent professional massage therapist any goals you have for the session (for example, greater flexibility, less tension, headache relief) and specify areas you’d like to focus on.
Avoid sun exposure and going out into the cold air unless you are covered up
Cupping tends to leave red marks on the skin where the suction cup was applied that will fade away over the next few days (may take up to a week depending on your circulatory system.
Let your therapist know about any medical conditions, or anything you feel is important to the session, and feel free to ask questions.
